While the UI could use some updates, the functionality is still high and the app works great for finding large groups of data (such as gazillion photos or zip archives). Disk storage Xĭisk Inventory X has been around on the Mac for a while now, it’s old but good. We’ve discussed using OmniDiskSweeper several times before here, it’s a great tool. OmniDiskSweeper has long been one of my favorite free utilities available on a Mac, and I often use it on my own computer and try to figure out what is eating up disk space on other Macs you’ve encountered. Get OmniDiskSweeper from developer (free). ![]() ![]() The files are displayed in descending order by size, so it’s very easy to figure out what is eating up storage space. OmniDiskSweeper is great and the interface is quite similar to using the Finder in a column view, making it easy to navigate to large files and folders throughout the file system hierarchy. The free version of DaisyDisk is very functional, erasing the drive and giving you quick access to any files or folders found (right-click on anything and select Show in Finder), and you can only get rid of the free version if you want, but if you enjoy DaisyDisk enough and you consider it a useful partner for your Mac experience, the full version is well spent money. ![]()
